Black Rock – CT
This Sunday the Pioneers hosted the SHU trophy with teams from as far as Montreal competing. The teams included Sacred Heart, Fairfield (2 teams), Salve Regina, WPI, UMass Amherst, University of New Hampshire, and McGill. The Fairfield stags took first place.  Conditions competitive regatta. Wind was blowing at ~15kts (~18mph), the air temperature was in the 60s, and there were 5-foot waves.  The regatta included a A & B divisions. This means that each team sends 4 sailors – 2 for the A division and 2 for the B division. Emma Giedraitis skippered for Sacred Heart's A division with Marissa Ursa crewing. Team captain Conor Grew skippered for the B division with Christian Perry at crew. The pioneers are an untested team, but they overcame this and had stronger finishes than initially anticipated against more experienced teams.
