Sacred Heart Women's Lacrosse had a pivotal two-game weekend on the road in their first official round robin of the season against Stony Brook University and New York University. On Saturday, the Pioneers took home two wins against the Seawolves and Violets in Long Island, New York.
With the first game against Stony Brook University ending in a 10-2 sweep and the second game against New York University ending in 8-3, the Pioneers delivered impressive victories on the field. Some prominent players in these games included freshman midfielder and WCLO Player of The Week Nicole Partridge, who acquired 6 goals, 5 assists and 13 ground balls. Accompanied by Partridge was freshman attack Georgia Saxe, who had 1 goal and 5 assists. Both Partridge and Saxe showed great communication on the field to bring the Pioneers to victory. This is certainly a duo to look out for this season.Â
Other players that scored winning goals were senior captain Samantha Faeth, sophomores Kelliane Murphy, Jessie Tallino, Jolie Dalton, and freshman Samantha Schroeder. Goalies Meghan Foley and Paige Brucker were both persistent in the goal as they each had 6 saves.Â
The Pioneers hope to continue their winning streak this season as they face Fordham University on March 16.Â
