Sacred Heart Club Sports

Bill Sweeney is the Director of Systems & Data in Strategic Enrollment and Director of Intercollegiate Chess at Sacred Heart University (SHU).  He helped establish the university chess club and competitive chess team as part of the SHU Club Sports program.  SHU Chess has enjoyed rapid growth and success since its launch in the fall of 2019.  Bill is a board member of the CT State Chess Association (CSCA).  He is a strong believer in the educational value of chess at every level, starting in our K-12 schools.  Bill was named the 2021 CSCA Organizer of the Year.
