Sacred Heart Men’s AAU D3 Ice Hockey Shows Promise in Hard-Fought Game Against Fordham Rams

On Saturday, October 19th, the Sacred Heart University men's AAU D3 ice hockey team faced a challenging matchup against the Fordham Rams, a skilled AAU D2 team, at Rye Playland in New York. This marked just the second game in the young history of our program, and it was a night filled with valuable lessons and moments of promise.

The first period saw the Rams take an early lead, with our team trailing 3-0 as the clock wound down. However, the resilience and determination of our players shone through in the second period. Fueled by a strong team spirit and a commitment to improvement, the team delivered their best period of hockey to date. With strategic plays and relentless effort, we clawed our way back into the game, narrowing the deficit to 4-2 as the period came to a close.

Despite the final score of 8-2, the growth we displayed on the ice was undeniable. Joey Letizia and Ben Hepler stood out as our goal scorers, showcasing their talent and determination. Their contributions, along with the collective effort of the entire team, highlight the progress we are making as we build our foundation.

As we look ahead, the next challenge awaits on December 1, 2024, when we take on Yeshiva University at The Martire Family Arena. With each game, we are learning, growing, and developing into the competitive team we aspire to be. The journey may have just begun, but the future is bright. Let's keep pushing forward!
