The Sacred Heart University X-Men Rugby team earned a commanding 56–10 victory over Southern Connecticut State University on Sunday afternoon. The win improves the X-Men's record to 3–1 on the season, with an additional forfeit win coming this weekend against the University of Hartford.
Sacred Heart set the tone early with a strong offensive start, opening the scoring with a try from Sean Irving at the five-minute mark. Cody Kelsey and Mike Agate followed with tries of their own, all converted by Tom O'Rourke, who went a perfect 8-for-8 on conversions.
Agate led the team with four tries, earning Forward of the Match honors. Michael Putt was named Back of the Match for his control and consistency throughout the game, and Kelsey took home Hardest Hitter for his dominant defensive play.
The match also saw the return of Senior Captain Jeremy Suhr, who stepped back on the field to lead the team for the first time this season, bringing leadership and energy to the lineup.
The X-Men will take the forfeit win this weekend versus the University of Hartford before returning to play in two weeks as they continue their push through the fall season into the post season.
