Women's Volleyball Finishes Third at New Haven

The SHU Women's team finished in third place to round out their Fall tournament season. With no seniors at the tournament and the roster predominantly consisting of freshmen and sophomores, this team showed amazing promise for its future.

Despite the up and down in set #1 against CCSU, SHU came out with the win (25-23). They continued on that high, taking a commanding lead in set #2 (25-15) and never looked back. The team split the first two sets with New Haven, forcing a tiebreaker where they jumped ahead to grab another win. The squad dominated Iona in set #1 (25-14) and used their lead to try out some of the offensive plays they had been working on in practice.

SHU finished pool play as the #1 seed, earning a bye in the first round of playoffs, but fell to Quinnipiac in the semi-finals, 14-25.

Communication and teamwork were key for the team's success; their high energy and hustle propelled them on runs of points. This team really opened up with each other at the tournament; they broke down their opponents' plays, adjusted their game when needed and made attempts to run a more complex offense. It was a great tournament to end the Fall season with, and the team is excited for what lies ahead in the Spring. The team is currently in 4th place in the Central Division of the NWVCL.
