Game One RecapĀ
Christian Campo collected three hits in four at bats, as Sacred Heart Club Baseball defeated Marist College Club Baseball 9-8 in the first game of their doubleheader. Campo tripled in the third inning, doubled in the first, and singled in the fourth inning.Ā
Sacred Heart trailed Marist 5-0 after the first two innings. Sophomore Zach Dezinski earned the win for the Pioneers. The righty surrendered three hits and three runs (one earned) over four and one third innings, striking out two and walking one. Nicholas Scura stepped on the hill first for the Pioneers but the right handed allowed six hits and five runs (four earned) over one and third innings. Justin Pesco collected the save.Ā
Sacred Heart accumulated 12 hits in the game. Campo and Andrew Civetta each collected three hits while Freshman Luke Wilke and Brian McGovern each collected multiple hits in their Pioneer debut.Ā
Game Two Recap
Sacred Heart completed their doubleheader sweep over Marist in game two with an 8-0 victory lead by Senior Patrick Mahan.Ā
Mahan started on the mound for the Pioneers. The left allowed one hit and zero runs over seven innings, striking out nine and walking two.Ā
The Pioneers got on the board early in the top of the first inning after Cameron Thibeault singled, and Thomas Kenn hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run. In the second inning the Pioneers added to their early lead after Mahan singled, and Christian Campo grounded out, each scoring one run.Ā
Kenn and Collin Corrigan each collected two hits for Sacred Heart. Campo, Mahan, Kenn, Mike Frieri, Thibeault, and Nick Scerbak each drove in one run for the Pioneers.Ā
