Sacred Heart D2 ice hockey had a three game weekend, facing Roger Williams University and Central Connecticut State University on the road before heading back home to host Keene State College. On Friday the Pioneers looked to sweep the season series against the Hawks in Rhode Island. Freshmen

Jake Antonucci got the scoring started putting the Pioneers up 2-0 before the Hawks got one back before the end of the period. The second frame didn't see much from the Pioneers as the Hawks tied it at 2 heading into the third period. In the third, seniors Chad Schnieder and
Nick Chiurazzi each scored within a couple minutes of eachother putting the Pioneers up 4-2, which would also be the final score of the game. Junior
Conor Higgins got his first win of the season with his 42 save performance.
On Saturday the Pioneers traveled to CCSU for a late night matchup. The Pioneers came out strong going up 3-0 in the first with goals from sophomore

Nick Chiurazzi tallied one of his own before Milko netted his second of the night to put the Pioneers up 5-1 going into the last 20 min of the game. Chiurazzi tallied his second of the night, and second two goal performance of the weekend, before freshman Rob Moliterno netted the final tally of the game to secure the 7-3 win for the Pioneers. Colin Gaughran recorded his first win of the season making 29 saves between the pipes.
On Sunday, the Pioneers returned home to take on the Owls of Keene State. The Pioneers came out hot taking a quick 2-0 lead 5 minutes into the game with goals from senior
Ryan Oechsner and sophomore
James O'Toole. The Owls got two quick ones back before junior
Matt Milko put the Pioneers in front 3-2 before the first intermission. In the second period the Owls took the Pioneers by storm scoring three unanswered putting the Pioneers down 5-3 going into the final period of the weekend. The pioneers went down 6-3 before senior
Nick Chiurazzi brought the Pioneer within two with his fifth goal of the weekend. Although they fought hard, it wasn't enough. The Pioneers dropped the final game of the weekend by a final score of 7-4.
The Pioneers have another three game weekend as they hit the road against Army West Point on Friday, Marist College Saturday, before returning home to face Bryant University for the weekend finale. Â
