Bowling Competes in Two Events in Carmel, NY

It was a busy weekend for the Sacred Heart Men's Club bowling team.  Two events at Spin's Bowl in Carmel, NY.

Saturday's event was the "Walter J Hauck" Memorial run by Westchester Community College.  Walter was the head coach for WCC who sadly passed last summer after a long career of coaching.  In his honor, an extremely difficult lane condition was used which proved challenging.  The format was 3 games Doubles, 3 games Singles and 5 Baker games.

In the doubles, best from SHU was Alex Besnilian and Anthony Allison with a combined 990.

Singles best for the squad was Anthony Allison with a 569 series or 189.66 avg.

Anthony Allison and Alex Besnilian finished 5th in doubles as well.

Sacred Heart qualified 3rd place but within shouting distance of 2nd.  With strong baker bowling from Andy Schneider's 223 and Alex Besnilian's 207, SHU finished the tournament in 3th place.

Final Standings:

  1. Suffolk CC
  2. Nassau CC
  3. Sacred Heart U
  4. Westchester CC

Anthony Allison finished 5th place in All-Events for both Saturday and Sunday's events.

Sunday's event was the Westchester Invitational at the same venue, same format and featured an equally difficult lane condition designed for professionals.

Shu's best doubles pairing was Andrew Schneider and Mark Dedona with a 917 series.  In the singles event, Anthony Allison rose again to shoot a 565 series.

Sacred Heart found itself on these treacherous conditions in 2nd place after qualifying behind Hudson Valley but couldn't muster the scores to reign over them.  SHU fell to 3rd place overall.

Final Standings:

  1. Hudson Valley CC
  2. Nassau CC
  3. Sacred Heart U
  4. Suffolk CC
  5. Westchester CC

Next week the men are on the road to New Jersey for the EIBT #3 event at Parkway Lanes.  This grueling format is 35 games of team baker which should last about 8 hours of competition.
