The Sacred Heart NCBA Club Baseball team completed their fall season over the weekend by sweeping Central Connecticut State University. The Pioneers won Game One 5-1, Game Two 4-0, and Game Three 13-8.
Game One:
Freshman Nikolas Portanova earned the win for the Pioneers. the starting pitcher surrendered seven hits and one run (zero earned) over seven innings, striking out five and walking two.
Declan Norton led the Pioneers offense with two hits in four at bats. Sacred Heart ran wild on the base paths, amassing four stolen bases for the game. Defensively, the Pioneers turned one double play and didn't commit a single error. Freshman Dermot McSpedon had the most chances in the field with seven.
Game Two:
Junior
Zachary Dezinski was nothing short of spectacular in game two. The righty allowed four hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out eight and walking none. The Pioneers accumulated 11 hits in the game.
Brian McGovern led the offense with two runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 one the day.

Andrew Civetta, and
Thomas Kenn each collected two hits for the Pioneers.
Game Three:
The Pioneers rallied for the victory despite trailing 7-1 in the fourth. Junior
Trevin Rieger earned the win for the Pioneers. The hurler allowed one hit and zero runs over two and two-thirds inning, striking out two and walking none.
Braden Golden stepped on the bump first for the Pioneers. The southpaw gave up four hits and seven runs (two earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out five and walking four.
Justin Pesco appeared in relief in the seventh. Sacred Heart's bats were hot on the day collecting14 hits.
Jack Oakley led Sacred Heart with three runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. The outfielder went 2-for-4 on the day.
The Pioneers completed their fall season with a 9-2 overall record and a 7-2 conference record.
