ACHA D2 Splits Series vs Clarkson

SHU ACHA D2 split their home series with SECHL opponent Clarkson University this weekend. This moves them to 5-2 in conference play thus far this season.

Saturday, the Pioneers were first on the board with a goal from senior Matt Milko off an assist from senior Michael Cardoza. They closed the period with what would prove to be the game winner from alternate captain Rob Moliterno in the final 2 minutes. Clarkson answered with a goal of their own in the final minute of the second period, but it would prove to not be enough to secure the win. Sophomore goaltender Matt Dworkowitz picks up his 7th win of the season, recording 43 saves for the SHU 2-1 victory. Sunday, SHU was first on the board again with a goal in the 4th minute of the game from junior James O'Toole. Clarkson was able to answer with 2 of their own in the last minute of the period to take an early lead. It was an offensive showcase in the second, with 6 goals total being scored. Pioneer captain Christos Caminis found the back of the net in his return from injury, while Milko added his second of the weekend. SHU was able to add 2 more in the third, but fell just short as an empty net goal iced the win for the visitors 7-5.

SHU currently sits third in the SECHL conference and 7th in the Northeast. This weekend, they head to Fort Myers, FL for a rematch with the #2 ranked team in the Southeast, Florida Gulf Coast University November 22 and 23.
