SHU ACHA D2 hit the road to wrap up the Thanksgiving weekend, taking on the Northeast's top ranked team, Holy Cross. Each team was able to score in the first 5 minutes of the game, before Holy Cross took the lead on a power play. Sophomore Thomas Franzosa tied the game in the final minutes of the period to head into intermission 2-2. The Pioneers were ready to go, with 2 quick goals to open the second and take the lead. Holy Cross pulled within one when they scored in the last 5 minutes. They tied the score at 4 with a shorthanded goal in the first minute of the final frame. SHU answered with a shorthanded goal of their own from senior Michael Cardoza off assists from sophomores Jake Desmarais and Dylan Stiles. Holy Cross tied it to force overtime, before netting the game winner 22 seconds in.
SHU wraps up the semester with a SECHL match up with Marist College on Friday and an out of conference game with Roger Williams on Sunday. They return to the Martire Family Arena on Sunday, January 19th for their annual charity game.
