AAU Ice Hockey held its first all-star challenge in Fort Lauderdale, Florida this past weekend. The best of the best were selected for the showcase. Captain
Jason Bonante, forward
Jack Kinahan, and Coach Joe Lane all were chosen to represent SHU at the inaugural All-Star Game for the Empire Conference team. The team competed against rival conferences such as the New England Independent Hockey Conference (NEIHC) and College Hockey South (CHS).

The Empire team kicked off the showcase on Friday night with a 10-4 victory over NEIHC. SHU's very own
Jack Kinahan scored twice in this game. They followed up with another early morning win against the CHS Grey team with a final score of 14-6. On Saturday the Empire team fought hard but ultimately lost to CHS white 8-6. However, factoring in their prior wins, Empire solidified their spot to play for the All-Star Game title on Sunday afternoon. Sadly, Empire came up short and lost 7-3. Defenseman
Jason Bonante walked away from the weekend having scored one goal and having made an assist.
