The Sacred Heart University AAU DII men's hockey team kicked off their season with a bang, winning two of three games at the weekend showcase. In their opener, the Pioneers defeated SUNY Fredonia 3-2, thanks to goals from freshmen Victor D'Erico and Ryan Walsh, and a third point from senior Anthony Gerace. The second game was a thrilling match-up against the reigning DVCHC Champions, Penn State Harrisburg. SHU jumped out to a 2-0 lead but found themselves trailing 3-2 entering the third period. However, a strong comeback effort, including two quick goals from Jack Kinahan, secured a 4-3 victory for the Pioneers. The final game of the showcase saw SHU face another Conference Champion, High Point University. Despite a goal from freshman Victor D'Erico, the Pioneers fell short, losing 7-1.

The D2 team will now return home to Martire Family Arena for their next match-up against Cortland on Friday at 8:30 PM.
