The Sacred Heart Club Baseball team opened its 2025-2026 conference schedule vs Marist University this past weekend.
On Friday night the Pioneers traveled to Heritage Financial Park which is home to the NY Yankees Single-A affiliate the Hudson Valley Renegades. The opener of the three-game series saw an action-packed game where the Pioneers put up 12 runs on 14 hits. Junior
Luke Blasi collected three hits in three at-bats. Ace
Zachary Dezinski earned the win for the D2 team. The Senior allowed two hits and one run (zero earned) over five innings, striking out eight and walking three.
On Sunday, the Pioneers shipped back up to Wappingers Falls to complete the series with a doubleheader. Sacred Heart suffered a tough loss in game one losing by the score of 7-3. In game two, the Pioneers took control of the game early and relied heavily on Senior
Nicholas Scura who earned the win on the mound. Scura surrendered five hits and one run (zero earned) over seven innings, striking out one and walking one. Sophomore
Dermot McSpedon led the Pioneers offensively with three hits in four at-bats.
The Pioneers are back in action on October 18
th when they travel to Rhode Island to face off against the #1-ranked Bryant Bulldogs.
