SHU ACHA D2 hit the road for the first game of the season against a challenging team, Providence College. The first few minutes started off a bit slow with each time trying to find their legs on the opening shifts. Providence banged in a quick goal in the first 4 minutes of the game. Providence continued to pounce adding two more goals before the halfway point of the first period. Freshman, Jackson Cantalupo got the Pioneers on the board with his first career goal making it 3-1. Late in the first period Providence would go on to add another making it 4-1.
The Pioneers came out strong in the second period collecting goals from Sophomore, Will Martin and Junior, Dylan Stiles.
Entering the third period the Pioneers were down 4-3. In the first minute of the third period Freshman, Nick Drogan scored his first career goal making the score 4-4. However, Providence responded with a quick goal 23 seconds later. Providence ended up netting two more late in the third period.
ACHA D2 looks to bounce back strong as they're on the road again this weekend at Fairfield University on Saturday and a trip up to RPI and Sunday.
