Providence, RI- Coming into the last match of the season the Club would find themselves sitting 7-0-2 and top 10 in Region 1! Traveling with a light roster and knowing that they would be going up against perhaps the best talent all season long, the mentality had to be right going into the match and personal preparation would have to be right from the start. Brown is a team that regularly makes the Region 1 tournament and plays in a conference against regulars in the NIRSA National Tournament for each year, such as Boston College. The writing was on the wall to always be a great tune up match for SHU ahead of their last bye week and then Regionals in Conshohocken, PA north of Philadelphia. The match would be a very tough and defensive minded game, recognizing many fixes that would need to be made in future practices ahead of the Region 1 tournament. The match would end in the Club's first defeat of the season but proving to be a great grounding tool to make sure all the players would recognize the strength and reality of Region 1 play as well as to make sure everyone continues to stay hungry throughout post season play.
Please stay tuned for everything SHU Men's Club soccer as the boys in red head to Conshohocken, PA to take on Group A and the rest of Region 1 talent! Please support the Club's run as they hope to qualify for the NIRSA National Tournament in Texas!
