Newton, MA- Sacred Heart's Club Field Hockey team traveled this weekend to Boston College. It was a hot day and although we were defeated, we still played our HEARTS out and we found our rhythm through the game. We will now apply what we have learned from this game to our next ones moving forward. The team's only goalie, had broken her foot a week before this game and was unable to make the game. When we go to the field, we were told we had to put a player into the net to count our game as a WIN/LOSS. Two team players stepped up and decided to try goalie. Julia Spagnoletti and Kathryn Merrill played their HEARTS out and having no experience, they both had amazing shots. Two minutes into the game, Katie Keane assisted a goal scored by Stephanie Bennett's. Our defense hustled and recovered on this hot day. Stella Bragoni, Morgan Yannotta, Nicole Loken, Gabriella Lefebvre and Kendall Versfield all had amazing clears, sending the ball up the field to their offense. As our coach Gionna always says, “Play with your HEARTS, have a fun time and remember, we are here to be a family,” and I think we definitely did that this weekend. We look forward to another awesome game this weekend as we play home at SHU against the University of Rhode Island.
