Fairfield, CT- This past weekend was the final weekend of regular-season games for the Sacred Heart Men's club soccer team. On Saturday, October 9, the Pioneers faced off against the University of New Haven at Campus Field. This was the first-ever matchup between the schools played within the Constitution Division, as this is the first year the Chargers are a member of the division. A pair of goals from freshman Andy Schneider, who was assisted by sophomore Andrew Tolfa for both goals, and fellow first-year Lucas Nola, assisted by another sophomore, Matthew Mordini, led the Pioneers to a 3-0 win.
On Sunday, October 10, the Pioneers played a double-header at Fairfield University's Barlow Field. The first matchup of the day was against Marist College. The game was tied at 1-1 at halftime after freshman Lucas Nola opened the scoring. The Red Fox's opened the game up in the second half making it 3-1 before freshman Andy Schneider scored his fourth goal of the season. That goal was only in consolation, though, as the Pioneers fell 3-2.
The second game of the double-header was against local rivals Fairfield University. This matchup always brings out a lot of emotion and passion from both schools, and this year's game was no different. Sophomore Giovanni LoGrasso gave the Pioneers the lead in the early stages of the game with the assist coming from freshman Copper Burdette. Two goals in the span of five minutes for the Stags was the difference in the game, as the Pioneers ended their season with a 2-1 defeat.
