CHF Hockey 1st Program Win!

10/1 Away at University of New Haven

After a back and forth battle against a respectable University of New Haven team the Pios pulled through for a 5-3 victory. A much needed win came from the help of a gritty young group of Guys. After UNH Scoring the first the Pios responded quick from ,the first of many, Veteran Brendan O'Donnell. UNH takes a 2-1 lead going into 2nd period. Freshman Quentin Wry scored his first collegiate goal for a brief lead in the 2nd before UNH responded back again for a tie game at 2. Another first goal of the night came from sophomore Elijah Blocker who helped the Pios take the lead before another response from UNH. But these Pios have no quit! After a nail biter of a 3rd another two goals from Brendan O'Donnell who netted a hat trick on the night produced a victory with a stellar performance from freshman net minder Jacob Provost to lock it in. The boys start the weekend strong before Hofstra University comes to Sacred Heart's Home Opener on Sunday.

10/2 Home against Hofstra University

The CHF hockey team held their home opener on Sunday night at Milford Ice Pavilion against the Long Island based Hofstra University. The Pios showed their strength with a 10-0 win to finish the weekend. Sophomore Hunter Kavanagh locked it down in net holding his first collegiate shut out with the new SHU squad. Junior Brendan O'Donnell is heating up following his hat trick performance put in 2 more on the night. Sophomore AJ Gerace continues to show his consistency producing two goals. Junior Ross Beck scored his first collegiate goal followed by an additional to start his scoring career off right. Freshman Alexander Giuliano also scored his first goal followed by another as well. Captains Anthony Bruno and Keegan McGowan netted a goal each to finish the game with 10. The CHF starts their official tournament bound season 2-0 in divisional play and 2-1 overall. The boys have the weekend off before facing off against Hofstra again and Stony Brook both on the road.
