The Sacred Heart DII AAU hockey team had a busy weekend, playing a total of three games. The first game on Friday, January 26 proved to be victorious with Sacred Heart winning 4-3 against Fairfield University. The first period of Friday's game was intense with one goal scored by Fairfield as well as one goal scored by Sacred Heart's Andrey Hamparzoumian. Fairfield gained steam in the second period and secured a lead of 3-1 over the Pioneers. Determined to fight back, Sacred Heart's Jake Calanni scored against the Stags in the third period making the score 3-2 still in Fairfield's favor. Down by one with one minute to go, Sacred Heart battled to get shots on goal as time ticked away. A successful shot came with only sixteen seconds left as Jake Calanni's puck soared into the back of Fairfield's net again, tying the game. Overtime did not last long as first-year forward, Jack Kinahan scored after just thirty seconds of play, officially ending the game.
 
The Pioneer's next game was not as successful as their game against Fairfield was. Men's AAU came home with a 3-1 loss against conference rivals Farmingdale State College. The score was 1-1 going into the third period with Sacred Heart's only goal coming from Jake Calanni. Unfortunately, the FSC Rams scored two goals in the third period that sealed the win for them. Sunday was another upset for SHU as Stony Brook College held the lead most of the game, making it an uphill battle for the men in red. The final score was 4-2 with Alex Kranitz and Jack Kinahan scoring goals for Sacred Heart.
 
The DII AAU team will head to New York this weekend to play Fordham University and Hofstra University. They will return on Sunday for their last regular season home game against Columbia University at 8:00 p.m. The Pioneers will honor their 2024 senior class prior to puck drop.
