The Sacred Heart Men's D3 Club Hockey team is a member of  the American Collegiate Hockey Association Men's Division 3 (ACHA MD3) which is the national association for non-NCAA collegiate hockey throughout the United States.
Prior to the 2020 season, SHU D3 made the move from competing as an independent to a member of the Metropolitan Collegiate Hockey Conference (MCHC), joining Maritime College, New JErsey Institute of Technology, St. Thomas Aquinas College, Stevens Institute of Technology, US Merchant Marine Academy, and Western Connecticut State University. In 2019, Sacred Heart Men's D3 Club Hockey team welcomed coach Jordy Hagwell to lead the staff. Coach Hagwell also serves as the Head Equipment Manager for the Sacred Heart Club Sports department.
In 2023 the team won it's first Metropolitan Collegiate Hockey Conference championship defeating Martime College by the score of 5-2.Â
The team practices 2 nights a week and plays all their home games at the Martire Family Arena located on Sacred Heart's West Campus. The team carries anywhere between 20 to 25 players on its roster.Â
