?The Sacred Heart University ACHA Division III hockey team competed in three hard-fought contests this past weekend, facing UMass, Wentworth, and the University of New Haven.
Friday's matchup against UMass also marked Senior Night, as the program honored its graduating players. SHU dominantly opened the weekend with an impressive 4–1 victory over UMass, the 12th-ranked team in the nation. The strong performance set the tone early, as the Pioneers executed on both ends of the ice to secure a statement win.
On Saturday, the team traveled to face Wentworth in a tightly contested matchup. After a back-and-forth battle, SHU came up just short, falling 4–3 in overtime.
The weekend concluded Sunday against the University of New Haven, where SHU dropped a 3–1 loss despite another competitive effort.
With the regular-season matchups behind them, the Pioneers now turn their focus to postseason play. SHU will prepare this week for its semifinal showdown against WestConn on Friday, February 20th, at 8 pm.
