Fairfield, CT- Men's Rugby won their home opener this Sunday by a score 33-22 over Providence College. The Pioneers came out strong out of the gate with a early try from Senior center Anthony Cimino. Junior scrumhalf Nick Giunta notched the conversion to give the Pioneers a 7-0 lead. Giunta went 4/5 for conversions on the day while Cimino added two more try's on the day, including a late score to secure the win for the Pioneers. Senior flyhalf Bryan Calton lead a strong backline, notching a first half try of his own and assisting Junior center Tyler Toledo on his first try of the season. Some strong tackling from sophomores Will Todd and Vinny Bassolino, as well as many hard fought scrums and lineouts helped contribute to the Pioneers first win of the season.
The boys will wrap up the regular season against New Hampshire on Campus Field next Sunday October 24th at 4pm.
