Monsey, NY - On Nov. 5-6, Sacred Heart's Figure Skating Team attended their first competition of the 2022-2023 season, the Violet Ice Classic hosted by NYU. The team placed 5th overall with a total of 187 points!

The placements from the individual events are as follows: Emma Whitehead (Fr) placed fourth in both Juvenile short and Preliminary Pattern Dance and placed fifth in Excel Intermediate. Bridget Incantalupo (Fr) placed ninth in Gold Pattern Dance. Amanda Smentkowski (Fr) placed second in Junior Championship, and fourth in Junior short. Sophia Ianelli (Fr) placed fourth in Senior short and tenth in Excel Senior. 

In Excel Pre-Preliminary, Siobhan Reidy (So) placed seventh, and Juliana Prete (So) placed tenth. Valentina Massoni (So) placed second in Excel Preliminary Plus, and first in Juvenile Free Dance.

Ashley McCrady (Jr) placed sixth in Excel Intermediate.

Julia Hardesty (Sr) placed second in Excel High Beginner. Erin Regan (Sr) placed third in Excel Intermediate and tied for second in Intermediate short. Natalie Castelli (Sr) placed first in Intermediate Free Dance, third in Excel Novice, fifth in Novice short, and sixth in Pre-Bronze Pattern Dance. Alyssa Dunn (Sr) placed second in Silver Pattern Dance, second in Excel Junior, third in Junior Free Dance, and fifth in Junior short. 

Elise Jolie (Grad) placed sixth in Excel Preliminary. Emily Schacher (Grad) placed second in Senior short, fifth in Pre-Bronze Pattern Dance, and Excel Senior and seventh in Junior Free Dance. 

Wrapping up the event, in Low Team Maneuvers, Sacred Heart placed fifth.
