The Collegiate Chess League is on online league sponsored by the
Corporate eSports Association and other gaming related companies. Fall and Spring seasons run separately. Fall 2022 saw a new format. Instead of playing matches pitting college teams against each other, the fall season had college players competing against each other at an individual level, while still representing their schools.
Each Saturday, for five weeks, 6-round, 400+ person tournaments were held. Based on the full season results, players were slotted into divisions for double-elimination playoffs. SHU player results were as follows:
- Brent McCreesh: 48th place, qualified for Division 3 and earned a cash prize of $125
- NM Mark DeDona: 81st place, qualified for Division 6
- Ryan Richter: 273rd place, qualified for Division 18
- Aidan Shamas: 285th place, qualified for Division 18
Due to conflicts with the SHU Pioneer Open tournament, all SHU students had to forfeit midway through the playoffs. Partial results included
Brent McCreesh defeating a National Master (NM) and advancing to the third round. NM
Mark DeDona went undefeated after 2 rounds.
Ryan Richter and Aidan Shamas each won a round and lost a round.
