The Connecticut State Championship was hosted for the first time at Trinity College. 134 players took part, including 17 titled players. SHU senior, NM Mark DeDona, finished in a four-way tie for 2nd place behind 1st place winner GM Maxim Dlugy. SHU sophomore, Robert Capodicasa, won the U1300 section on tie breaks, after finishing in a three-way tie.
Sacred Heart students competed in three of the five sections with results as follows:
Champion Section:
· Mark DeDona – 3.0/4.0, 2nd place tie
Under 1800 Section:
· Mark Khalil – 2.0/4.0
· SHU alum Joey Cyr – 2.0/4.0
· Aidan Shamas – 1.0/4.0
Under 1300 Section:
· Rob Capodicasa – 3.50/4.0, 1st place on tie breaks
· Roman Pearl – 1.5/4.0
