Sacred Heart Club Tennis won its first match of the year over University of New Haven with a final score of 54-17. In singles, Michelle Rosen came up short 6-8 in what was largely a neck and neck set, while Christian Mayorga won his first collegiate match 8-6 holding off a late set rally by his opponent. Freshman Charlotte Minerva rolled to a 8-0 win in the 2nd women's singles matchup. In doubles, Bella Conti and Meghan Sharockman and the first year duo of Treyden Medonis and Brendan Resende both won handily 8-0. During the mixed doubles portion of the match, Stephanie Davino and Medonis raced to a 8-2 victory and the pair of Krista Demirakos and Giovanni Orlando capped off the win defeating their opponents 8-1.
The Pioneers next will compete in the 2023 New England USTA Sectional Tournament with pool play on 10/14 and bracket play on 10/15 at Smith and Hampshire Colleges in western Massachusetts. Follow us on our Instagram to get updates on our tournament draws and confirmed location of match play.
