Eleven SHU students came to Wesleyan University on November 12th for the 2023 CT State Chess Championship sponsored by the
Connecticut State Chess Association (CSCA). A CT record, 221 players competed in six sections. Three Grandmasters and twelve National Masters participated.
SHU Freshman, Mark Kahlil, won the Under 1200 section with a perfect 4-0 score and a $400 prize. All SHU players competed well. Players picking up substantial rating points include NM
