SHU brings eleven players to the 2023 CT State Chess Championship

Eleven SHU students came to Wesleyan University on November 12th for the 2023 CT State Chess Championship sponsored by the Connecticut State Chess Association (CSCA).  A CT record, 221 players competed in six sections.  Three Grandmasters and twelve National Masters participated.  
SHU Freshman, Mark Kahlil, won the Under 1200 section with a perfect 4-0 score and a $400 prize.  All SHU players competed well.  Players picking up substantial rating points include NM Mark DeDona, Declan Coleman, Mark Khalil, and Ryan Richter.
