The Sacred Heart Figure skating team had an amazing weekend at the MIT Qualifying Competition! SHU finished in 3rd place overall with a total of 199 points! They placed right behind NYU in second with 200 points, and BU in first with 248. 

The competition started Friday night with Erin Regan (Sr) placing 4th in Excel Intermediate Free Skate Group A. Emma Whitehead (Fr) followed placing 4th in Excel Intermediate Free Skate Group B. Next Natalie Castelli (Sr), Ashley McCrady (Jr), Erin Regan, and Emma Whitehead competed in Intermediate Team Maneuvers and placed 6th. 

Alyssa Dunn (Sr), Sophie Ianelli (Fr), Sydney Robinson (Fr), Emily Schacher (Gr), and Amanda Smentkowski (Fr) competed in High Team Maneuvers and placed 4th overall. 

Saturday started with Emma Whitehead, who placed 3rd in Juvenile Women Short Program and Erin, who placed 1st in Intermediate Women Short Program. Natalie Castelli then placed 4th in Novice Women Short Program. Amanda Smentkowski placed 3rd and Alyssa Dunn placed 2nd in Junior Women Short Program. Next Sophie Iannelli placed 2nd and Emily Schacher placed 8th in Senior Women Short Program.

Saturday continued with Emma Whitehead placing 5th in Preliminary Pattern Dance. Natalie Castelli placed 4th in Pre-Bronze Pattern Dance and Alyssa Dunn placed 2nd in Silver Pattern Dance. After the pattern dances, Julia Hardesty (Sr) then placed 2nd in High Beginner Free Skate. Alyssa Dunn placed 3rd in Excel Junior Women Free Skate and Natalie Castelli placed 5th in Novice Women Free Skate. 

Ending the second day, Sophie Iannelli won 1st in Senior Women Championship Free Skate and Amanda Smentkowski won 1st in Junior Women Championship Free Skate. 

Sunday started with Elise Jolie (Gr) placing 2nd and Gianna Cammarano (So) placing 1st in Pre-preliminary Free Skate. Alyssa Dunn then placed second in Senior Solo Free Dance. Emma Whitehead placed 1st in Juvenile Solo Free Dance. Finally, Natalie Castelli placed 4th and Amanda Smentkowski placed 1st in Novice Solo Free Dance.
