The 2025 CT Hall of Fame Action Championship, sponsored and organized by the Connecticut State Chess Association (CSCA), was held at Sacred Heart University on May 18th. This is the third consecutive year SHU Chess has provided the venue for the tournament. A tournament record 93 players competed. There were 16 titled players, including 3 Grandmasters, 4 FIDE Masters, 1 FIDE Candidate Master, and 8 National Masters. SHU's own NM Mark DeDona finished tied for 2nd-6th with a score of 3.0/4.0. In the Under 1900 section, Aidan Shamas finished tied for 2nd-6th with a score of 3.0/4.0. Other SHU results include Brent McCreesh (1.5) in the Open section; Joey Cyr (2.0) and Mark Khalil (1.5) in the U1900 section; and Michael Baker (2.0) and Roman Pearl (1.0) in the U1200 section. Ian Harris, SHU's Chess Coach and founder of RedBandit Chess, received the CT Chess Association "2024 Tournament Director of the Year" award.
