The 2025 Fairfield County Chess Championship, sponsored and organized by the Connecticut State Chess Association (CSCA), was held in Norwalk on September 6^th.  The tournament featured a very strong Open section as well as sections for ratings U2000, U1500, and U1000.    
Mark Khalil was the top finisher for SHU taking 1^st place in the U1500 section.  Rob Capodicasa finished in 3^rd place, also in the U1500 section.

Open Section:

• NM Mark DeDona (Senior) – 2.0, 7^th place

Under 2000 Section:

• Aidan Shamas (Senior) – 1.0, 11th place

Under 1500 Section:

• Mark Khalil (Senior) – 3.0, 1^st place
• Rob Capodicasa (Sophomore) – 3.0, 3^rd place
• Forde Todd (Sophomore) - 2.0, 5^th place
• Sam Deeney (Freshman) – 2.0, 6^th place

Under 1000 Section:

• Evan Gioia (Junior) – 3.0, 3^rd place
• Ben Mandler (Sophomore) – 2.5, 8^th place
• Michael Baker (Sophomore) – 2.0, 9^th place
