Fairfield, CT - The women's team played on Sunday 10/4/2021 against UCONN away at Fairfield University. SHU came out strong during the first half, playing their game and not UCONN's. It was a competitive game leading to the score being 0-0 going into half time. During the first half sophomore Alyssa Alfieri, lead defense and stopped many different breakaways throughout the half. Freshman goalie, Alexandra Napolitano, had many good saves during the first half as well.
Once the second half started, UCONN scored within the first twenty minutes. SHU did not give up and came back even stronger than before. UCONN gave SHU a corner kick within the last five minutes of the game. Junior Carissa Munoz took the kick placing it right in the 6th in front of the goalie. Freshman Alexa Bleam, headed the ball in to tie the game 1-1 with 5 minutes remaining. After that the team got excited and pressured up, with many attempts to score. The game ended in a tie. Although SHU ended in a tie, it was very hard and competitive game that was a close competition throughout the time.
