Fairfield, CT - Women's team played a Wednesday night game on October 6, 2021, at Sacred Heart University against Fairfield University. The women came out strong and ready to play a competitive game. The first twenty minutes of the game were close and competitive. SHU had many opportunities to score. Within the last twenty minutes of the first half, Fairfield let up a corner kick for SHU. Sophomore Hannah Mance took the corner kick, placing the ball in front of the net for Junior Gianna Paseka to finish and score the first goal for SHU. This goal kept the ladies motivated and excited to keep playing. A few minutes later, Gianna Paseka crossed the ball from the left side of the field to sophomore Mia Izzi for her to finish it and put a head on it. This led the score to 2-0 SHU. Shortly a few minutes later, there was another corner kick that Fairfield let up. Freshman Isabella Pace took the corner kick, setting it up for captain senior Elizabeth Spadafino. Shortly after, Isabella Pace intercepted a pass from the other team, taking the ball all the way to the goal, scoring another goal for SHU.

Within the last few minutes of the half, there was another corner kick that Isabella Pace took, setting it up for junior Carla Macera to score the last goal of the half. SHU went into half time leading 5-0.  During the second half, the girls started out strong. A foul was called on Fairfield, letting a free kick up on their side of the field within the first few minutes. Sophomore Alyssa Alfieri took the free kick scoring yet another goal for SHU.  Within the next twenty minutes of the game, Fairfield scored twice, making the score 6-2. SHU did not give up yet, captain senior Savannah Palas passed the ball to captain Elizabeth Spadafino who scored another goal. Within the last few minutes of the game, captain Tessa Garcia had a break away and passed the ball to Elizabeth Spadafino scoring another goal, making the score 8-2. SHU women team took the win from Fairfield making it the first win against Fairfield University, in a few years.
