The Sacred Heart NECBA Pioneers earned their first ever program win over the weekend at the NECBA Showcase in Lawrence, MA.
Freshman Nicholas Sendrowksi showed a strong eye at the plate on Sunday, as he walked three times while leading the NECBA Pioneers to an 11-9 victory over Stonehill. The Pioneers came back to win despite trailing 6-1 in the second. The Pioneers tied the game game in the top of the third thanks to a walk by Sendrowski, a triple by
Aaron Ariza, and an error. The Pioneers made the score 10-8 in the top of the fifth after an error scored one run,
Max Bergen singled, scoring two runs, and one run scored on a balk.Â
Andrew Civetta pitched three and two thirds innings in relief for the Pioneers. the hurler allowed three hits and three runs (two earned) while striking out six and walking three. Matt Considine started the game and gave up five hits and six runs (four earned) over one and one-third innings, striking out one and walking none.Â
Ariza provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the team with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Dan ADzima and Ariza each collected two hits. Sendrowski paced the Pioneers with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game.Â
The NECBA Pioneers are back in action on Saturday October 12th when they host Yale University at Notre Dame Prep. First pitch is slated for noon.Â
