The Sacred Heart NCBA D3 Club Baseball team traveled to Somerset, New Jersey on Saturday November 1st to take on the Scarlet Knights in a doubleheader non-conference matchup. 

Game One: 

Sean Reilly collected three hits in four at bats, as Sacred Heart defeated Rutgers 9-6 in game one of Saturday's doubleheader. Reilly hit a solo home run in the second inning, doubled in the fourth inning, and singled in the third inning. 

Rutgers got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after a walk, scored a run, and a double scored two runs. Rutgers added an additional run in the second on a fielders choice. 

Sacred Heart flipped the game on its head in the top of the fourth, scoring six runs on six hits to take the lead, 8-4. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run by Francis Fressle on an 0-2 count that drove in three. The Pioneers added an extra run in the top of the seventh on a solo home run to left field by Jack Oakley. 

Brett Spinosa started the game for the Pioneers. the starting pitcher gave up three hits and six runs over five and one-third innings, striking out three and walking twelve. Justin DiGiovanna pitched one and two-thirds scoreless ball for the Pioneers in relief. 

Game Two: 

Justin DiGiovanna hit two home runs and drove in six runs as Sacred Heart completed the sweep in game two of Saturday's doubleheader. DiGiovanna in the first and sixth innings. 

The Pioneers got on the board early in the top of the first inning after Francis Fressle doubled, scoring one run, and DiGiovanna homered to center field, scoring two. 

Jack Oakley started the game for the Pioneers. The starting pitcher allowed five hits and four runs (two earned) over seven innings, striking out six and walking three. 

Sacred Heart collected 10 hits in the game. Fressle, Dylan Casani, Andrew DAyton, and DiGiovanna each collected two hits in the matchup. 

The NCBA D3 Pioneers completed the fall season with a 9-1 overall record.
