The Pioneers returned home on Sunday after completing their spring break trip to Panama City Beach, Florida, where they competed in NCBA's Swing into Spring tournament.
The Pioneers went 0-4 on the week but played very competitive baseball against some of the top teams in the country.
After dropping their first game to Central Michigan 6-4 the Pioneers faced off against #1 ranked Penn State. Sophomore
Zach Dezinski took the hill for the Pioneers he went five and one-third innings, allowing six runs (four earned) on five hits, while striking out nine and walking two batters. The Pioneers were only able to get one hit of the ballgame from Junior Captain
Thomas Kenn.
In game three, the Pioneers faced off against #2 ranked Cal U of Pennsylvania (D2) and lost 5 to 1. Senior
Patrick Mahan started the game for Sacred Heart. He allowed seven hits and five runs (four earned) over six innings, striking out seven and walking one. Junior
Thomas Kenn went 2 for 4 at the plate to lead the Pioneers. Senior
Cameron Thibeault led the Pioneers with one run batted in. The Pioneer's defense did not commit a single error on the day.
In the Pioneer's last game, they faced off against #7 Virginia Tech who handed the club boys their final loss of the trip by a score of 8-3. Sophomore
Nicholas Scura started for the Pioneers and went two innings, striking out three and walking two batters. He allowed five runs (two earned) on four hits. Freshman
Colin McPherson pitched three innings of perfect baseball. McPherson struck out four batters and did not surrender a walk. Senior Anthony Rodriguez, Junior

Aldo Vittozzi each collected one hit for the Pioneers. Vittozzi and Bellucci each drove in one run.
The Pioneers are back in action on March 23rd and 24th as they travel to Rutgers University for a non-conference series.
