The Women's Club Ice Hockey team traveled to Villanova this Friday, October 21 for their first game of the season. With a shortened roster, the girls lost the game 12-3. The score tells nothing of how well every girl on the ice played. With their starting goalie not being able to make the trip, Coach Robitaille looked to the rest of the team in hopes someone would willingly step up. With luck, freshman Susan Hobart took on the role. As a defenseman, never being between the pipes, she put on a great performance in net. Being a goalie isn't the easiest job, but she went out there and really showed how much dedication she has for herself and the team.
In the second period, freshman Shannon Tuttle opened the scoring for the Pioneers with her first collegiate goal assisted by sophomore Olivia Picard. Shortly after, junior Isla MacPherson netted her first of the year on the power play with assists from freshman Tuttle. To cap it off in the third, MacPherson netted her second of the game with assists from freshman Sage Smith with her first collegiate point and freshman Tuttle.
The girls are very excited to start the season and show signs of having an incredible year!
