The first half of the 2024–25 season has been defined by growth, resilience, and a clear rise in competitiveness for Sacred Heart University Women's Club Hockey. From the opening puck drop, the group has shown a renewed commitment to structure, accountability, and team identity. Practices have been sharper, systems more cohesive, and the overall standard across the program has taken a noticeable step forward. This progress has positioned the Pioneers for an exciting second half as they continue to build momentum within the ACHA.
A Milestone Moment: Nicole Partridge Reaches 100 Career Points
A standout moment of the season came when veteran forward
Nicole Partridge recorded her 100th career point. This milestone reflects not only her offensive skill, but also her consistency, leadership, and long-term contribution to the program. Nicole's presence continues to elevate the team, and her achievement is a testament to the hard work she has invested over multiple seasons. Her ability to produce in key moments has made her one of the most impactful players in Sacred Heart Club Hockey history.
Defensive Backbone: Long, Shaw, and Bucci Set the Standard
Much of the team's success this season has come from its growing defensive identity, anchored by the outstanding play of
Sarah Long, Captain,
Delaney Shaw, and
Michela Bucci. Sarah has been a calm, intelligent presence on the blue line, reading plays at a high level and consistently making smart decisions under pressure. Delaney has brought a physical and dependable style, often tasked with difficult matchups and thriving in those situations through hard work and reliable zone coverage. Michela has contributed by providing both stability in the defensive zone and confidence with the puck on her stick. Together, these three have helped set a new defensive standard for the team and have been instrumental in limiting high-quality chances against.
Offensive Contributors Driving Production
Alongside Nicole's milestone, several forwards have stepped up to make key contributions in the offensive zone.
Allison Neiley has emerged as one of the team's most consistent point-producers, creating scoring chances with her vision and compete level. Freshman
Mackenzie Ketchow has made an immediate impact, showing promise and poise far beyond a first-year player.
Tori Hayes continues to bring composure and smart decision-making, helping stabilize the forward group in tight moments. Meanwhile,
Abby Stauss has provided relentless energy and effort, often generating momentum through forechecking and second-effort plays. Their combined contributions have allowed Sacred Heart to build more sustained pressure in games and improve offensive depth throughout the lineup.
Poised for a Strong Second Half
As the team prepares for the remainder of the season, the focus will shift toward consistency, execution, and continuing to refine the systems that have taken shape over the first half. With leadership emerging naturally, improved chemistry across the roster, and a strong defensive foundation already in place, Sacred Heart is well-positioned to take another step forward in the ACHA standings. If the team continues to build on its current trajectory, the second half of the season has the potential to be its most competitive and exciting stretch yet.
