The Sacred Heart Women's Club Hockey team experienced a roller coaster of a weekend, showcasing resilience and determination in two high-scoring battles.
On Saturday, the Pioneers faced off against Holy Cross, the ladies fought hard but ultimately fell short, succumbing to a 10-7 defeat. Despite the loss, the team displayed remarkable offensive prowess, with a hat trick by Tori Hayes and additional goal-scoring from Nicole Partridge, Susan Hobart, Isla Macpherson and Lexi Yost.
The following day saw the Pioneers bounce back with an impressive 11-9 victory over Bentley. With goals coming from many players including Sam Henchcliffe, Sarah Long, and Olivia Nye, the team showcased depth and versatility on the offensive end. Notably, defenseman Paige Brucker, normally a defenseman, stepped up admirably in the absence of the regular goaltender and played strong between the pipes.
Amidst the weekend's ups and downs, the SHU Women's Club Hockey team demonstrated unwavering resilience and teamwork. Despite facing adversity with their goaltender sidelined due to injuries, the players rallied together, showcasing their offensive firepower and adaptability.
The Pioneers will close out their season next weekend with two home games. Cheer the team on for Senior Night on February 16 at 7 p.m. as the team takes on Assumption. On Sunday at 4 p.m. the team will play a non-conference game against the University of Maryland.
